The complete path: Ritmolux captures whatever is playing — a browser tab, a game, a music player — and draws to it. Windows has first-class loopback capture, so nothing else is needed.
Ritmolux draws to whatever your computer is playing. There are two ways to run it: a standalone app that listens to the system’s own audio, and a foobar2000 component that draws inside foobar and never touches system capture at all.
Every build is a zip. Unzip it anywhere you like — nothing installs into the system, and
nothing is written outside the folder you unzip into. Inside each zip is the same

Windows, standalone

macOS, standalone
The same app, with one asterisk: macOS has no loopback capture of its own, so capturing another application’s audio needs a virtual device. The build is unsigned, which takes one extra step the first time.
foobar2000 component
If you already play music in foobar2000, this is the least fuss: foobar hands the audio over directly, so there is no capture to set up and nothing to grant permission to. Windows-first.
Ritmolux ships with a library of presets — a preset is a text file describing a look, and every one of them can be opened and changed. Once it runs, the preset guide is the illustrated tour of what each rendering system does, and the gallery shows one frame from each.
Nothing here is required to use the application. Cycle presets and it works.
